Computer Competency
CIS 1020-047- Computer Essentials
In Computer Essentials we learned about Windows and Office Fundamentals including Word, Excel and Powerpoint. We also learned about the technology side of the computer. I have included three samples of my work from this class.
WORD For this project we were asked to complete a report for Horticulture Society. Many of the tasks assigned were things I had never worked with including references, endnotes and citations. My biggest struggle came with the table of contents. |
|
EXCEL For this project we needed to manage and manipulate a very large worksheet for a real estate firm. The data included information on houses listed and sold and we were required to convert the data to a table. We were also required to make various changes to the table as well as add very complicated formulas. The most difficult aspect of this assignment for me was the conditional formatting. It took me several times to complete this assignment correctly. |
|
POWER POINT For this assignment we were asked to create a slide-show birth announcement. I enjoyed every aspect of this assignment. It felt like scrap-booking but in a high-tech way. We were asked to modify photos, add sound and insert a video clip and it was amazing. |

Reflection: I almost tried to test out of this class because I thought I knew everything. I was so wrong. While I had used Word and Excel extensively I had never used either of the programs to their full potential. I was so amazed at all of the functions that I had not been using that made everything so much better and easier for me. I always thought Power Point was for boring office presentations until this class. I loved the versatility the program provides and it was so much fun. This class is one of the most important ones I have taken while here at SLCC. Loved it!
